In these trying times, parents are torn between keeping their family safe and making sure that their children attend the online classes and understand what is taught. While virtual learning has kept our children safe, it has made it harder for them to stay motivated and learn. Struggling in online classes can cause a setback academically as they spend an entire year not being able to understand the classes. As Parents, you are left wondering, is this because of online classes? Or is something else going on? How can parents help if their child is falling behind in their academics? 1. Look for patterns – You can get valuable information by observing your child if he or she is not attending specific classes, failing or scoring low marks, losing focus or is absent for tests. 2. Become aware of how your child typically learns – One useful way for parents could be sharing your observations with the teachers and check if there is anything different and decide together what might help the child. 3. Having an open conversation: Spending time helping the child with the issue from a non-judgmental space can reassure the child and help the child to open up. Image : Thomas Park for Unsplash
