"Boo! It is my self-doubt ghost again." One of my clients who had joined her new job shared that, during her first year in her new job, she was constantly visited by the ghost of self-doubt. In our coaching sessions, she said that she was baffled because she excelled in her job. I asked her, " What was different in the new job? " She told me, "I feel that I have to prove myself everyday. In my previous position, I felt very competent. I am not sure if I can cope up here. " I asked her to acknowledge the ghost, know that it may be around for some time but she had a choice not to listen to it. She decided to mute the ghost. As the self-doubt ghost was muted, my client grew in confidence and now she is one of the valuable employees of her company. Confidence is needed to believe in one's own abilities, skills and goals. Confidence leads to success. I like to call it the "Superpower"!
