How often do you say to yourself that you do not have a choice to do something you want? I was having a conversation with a colleague about her struggle to complete her writing assignments on time. I asked her if that was a priority. She insisted that it was, but there were other aspects of her life that were a priority too. She told me that she did not have a choice as she had to balance between her family, career and her dreams. In this contest, she said that her dreams would suffer. I then asked her, "Did you give yourself permission to have a choice?" After my talk with her, I reflected on my own statement and wondered whether I was giving myself permission to choose how I live my life and what thoughts to think. If I choose to think that my dreams are not important, I may not be motivated to fulfil them. I believe we all have choices and what we choose to think about our abilities is a choice. Our minds can choose what thoughts to listen to, what thoughts to repeat and what thoughts to interrupt. When we do that continuously, our self-beliefs become stronger and we build and maintain a sense of confidence. Therefore, start choosing thoughts that empower you and builds your inner confidence.
